The entire purpose of creating this space was rooted in the desire to give our community a place to come together. In an increasingly digital world, we believe in the power of community, social interaction and slowing things down.
We are locally owned and operated!
We are all about inclusion.
This place, is for you.
I’ve been playing board games my whole life, but really fell headfirst into the hobby in 2016, and honestly, I haven’t looked back since! What started as a deeper dive into a favourite pastime quickly turned into a passion, a career, and eventually a community. I’ve been running my YouTube channel Foster the Meeple for over five years, talking all things board games and cozy hobbies. Along the way I ended up working in the board game industry, with the Van Ryder Games team! I’m born and raised here in the South Shore, and this café is my way of giving back, bringing my love of games, baking, and creativity home to Mahone Bay. I wanted to create a space that offers more ways to connect off the screen, whether that’s over a board game, a craft table, or a really good cookie. This space is about community, coziness, and having fun together and I’m so excited to share it with you!
I have loved baking and cooking from a very young age. Baking with my mom was my favourite pastime as a child. As I grew I found myself gravitating towards jobs that include food and eventually decided to go to culinary school to hone my craft. I worked in the food industry for years before stumbling upon a store manager position at a local board game and hobby supply store. My other passion. Craving a change of pace I took the job and spent the next four years learning about board games, trading card games, table top games, hobby supplies and more! When The Cozy Gull came along I couldn't believe my two favourite things were put together in one building! It seemed the last eight years of my life were training grounds for this position. I am honoured and excited to be a part of such a community driven business!
Some legends say if you see him out in the wild, you will be blessed with a century of good fortune. Loves to trudge.
